Lost Dog Foundation has been working and participating in sterilization clinics in the Yucatan since 2010. Sterilizing dogs and cats from the streets is a pivotal part of finding the long-term solutions for animals in Mexico–there are efforts to be made in many areas to improve the health of these animals and sterilization is key. Many pet owners have not grown up having the information about spay and neutering, don’t understand the critical reasons why they should do it, and also lack the resources to pay for the surgery. There is a constant need to educate citizens about the urgency of spay and neuter and how important it is to being a responsible pet owner. Lost Dog Foundation is committed to providing ongoing volunteer help for clinics, promoting spay and neuter in the communities and helping to secure supplies to assist in surgeries for participating rescues and veterinarians.
